Thanks for commenting Augusto! Well, the new site launched about a month a ago (www.ogilvypr.com). We are currently monitoring global traffic and rankings. The site is somewhat of a work in progress as we are waiting for employees from around the world to upload content. The goal is to have content and navigation in all languages that we have offices in, but that may be a ways off. Do you have a suggestions for ranking software to track Google's international search engines? Web Position doesn't seem to do the trick...

Hi Will,

The location where your site is hosted plays an important role for Geo Targeting a site; however, is not the only one. You can read more about How to Geo Target Your Site with Google Webmaster Tools and watch a video from Google indicating so.

There are many factors to consider; but all depends on whether you are opting for a Web Globalization + Global SEO combo, or a more localized project.

ccTLDs are the easiest way to rank a site, but has some limitations in terms of the big scope.

I am wondering how everything went with your project. I am still working on a big project for the Asian market.

Regards,

Augusto

No, local hosting is not needed here. Geo targeting will be coming, but a ways off yet...And you would not want to try to get a hosting license here unless yo had a local biz license or a partnership with a Chinese company...
