134 William Street, Woolloomooloo, Sydney
THE PROJECT
The Organic Response solution was implemented as part of a lighting upgrade at Level 5, 134 William St, Woolloomooloo, Sydney. As well as providing more contemporary lighting for the users by transitioning from T8 to LED technology, the upgrade aimed to identify and quantify the savings attributable to the lighting controls, separately from the luminaire upgrade. Each of the following Organic Response features was separately activated, and the impact on energy consumption recorded:
Trimming of MaxLight level,
Dynamic Occupancy
Daylight Dimming
The installation took just 2 hours for two tradesmen to remove the old lights and upgrade to new Organic Response-Enabled Eagle Lighting LED luminaires. The subsequent optimisation process occurred in minutes, not days.
Lighting Energy consumption was monitored for 4 months, metered in 5 minute time intervals. The analysis was conducted independently by consultancy firms Team Catalyst (TC) and Light, Art & Science (LAS).
THE RESULT
As each feature of Organic Response was activated, the energy consumption of the system reduced dramatically, allowing the lights to respond more intuitively to the occupants and natural light within the space.
Organic Response delivered energy savings of 78%, attributable to the controls only.
